STATUS: CONCEPTUAL HANDMADE MODELS AND DRAWING

COURSE:  A21P1C: ARCHITECTURE PROJECT 2:1 STRUCTURE, PLACE, ACTIVITY YEAR 1

Each student was introduced to this architectural project through an individually assigned object. This particular project was assigned a standard wallet. The object came to shape the studies that were conducted, and the working method was iterative. The studies focused primarily on the object’s geometric properties and its spatial potential.

The wallet is a simple object, yet it carries a spatial richness. These spaces, which at first glance appear hidden but in reality contain great richness, became central to all of the studies. This concept of searching provided new insights into how space can be perceived by an observer. The plaster models offered new perspectives on viewing space as a void within mass rather than a void enclosed by boundaries. This enabled new possibilities for form-making, where the primary discovery was the ability to create designs with spatial richness that are perceived as entirely closed.
